While there's no word on whether a sequel is in the works, it's a massive turnaround following the team's disbanding in 2024.

It was a sad day when the development team behind Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown was disbanded and shifted to other projects. The side-scrolling Metroidvania received extensive critical acclaim (we gave it a nine out of ten), but after launching in January 2024, it reportedly sold only one million units by October.

However, the sequel dream may not be quite dead. “Little birds” allegedly told Gauthier ‘Gautoz’ Andres of independent French outlet Origami that Ubisoft has given the “green light” to the core team’s reunion. They’re apparently pitching game ideas, and while there aren’t any further details, you can’t help but hope that we’re reunited with Saigon.

Why the sudden shift? It may be related to Ubisoft’s internal reshuffle, which resulted in the formation of several Creative Houses with their own dedicated heads. While Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time Remake was cancelled, perhaps the publisher saw the positive response with The Lost Crown and thought it was worth pursuing.

After all, it eventually managed to cross three million players last year following its addition to PlayStation Plus’s Game Catalog, and that number may be even higher thanks to Game Pass. Again, this report is no guarantee that Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown is getting a sequel, but even if it doesn’t, it’s good to see the team reunited.

Industry insider KeplerL2 noted that it would be better for Sony to use a weaker version of the Orion APU instead of the handheld's Canis.

While a previous report had speculated about the concept for a “Lite” PS6″S” console that could run on the same Canis APU as the handheld, industry insider KeplerL2 has noted that such a SKU existing would be quite unlikely. In a NeoGAF thread, the leaker has said that it “would be a nightmare for devs,” since they would already have to work around two sets of next-gen PlayStation hardware in the PS6 console and the PS6 handheld.

When asked about the handheld already presenting a challenge for developers, KeplerL2 noted that studios will likely find it easier to scale games down to make them look good on a 1080p display rather than using low-powered hardware to run things on a 4K TV. Along with this, whether or not Sony will insist on developers supporting the PS6 handheld with their releases is still currently unknown.

As for whether the PS6 handheld’s chip could theoretically be made more powerful by adding extra cooling solutions to prevent thermal throttling, KeplerL2 wrote that the Canis APU has been “built with specialized low power libraries.” This means that “it can’t run at high clock speeds no matter how much power you throw at it.”

Using upscaling technologies would also present its own challenges. Since the PS6 handheld is expected to support FSR 5 and PSSR 3, upscaling from the rumoured 540p internal resolution to its 1080p display would take around 2 milliseconds. However, trying to upscale the same image to an even higher resolution, like a 4K TV, would take a lot more time.

“That’s a 16x upscale, which is very hard to do without image artifacts/blur,” they wrote. “Upscale cost is also based on output resolution, so if we assume 1080p upscale FSR5/PSSR3 is around 2ms on Canis, then 4K upscale would be about 8ms. Even with higher clocks from a docked configuration, it’s likely 5-6ms minimum, so devs would need to do extra optimization for docked config just to hit the same FPS as handheld mode.”

Continuing the speculation on a low-powered PS6, KeplerL2 believes that it might be better for Sony to use a weaker version of the Orion APU, which powers the PS6 home console, rather than using Canis. Noting that going with a 6-core CPU cluster, a 16 WGP GPU, 10 percent slower clock speeds on CPU and GPU, and a 128-bit memory bus with 24 GB of RAM would reduce the bill of materials for such a hypothetical console by around $60 for the memory, and between $20 and $30 for the board and cooling. Along with this, Sony could potentially also get near-100 percent yields from chip fabricators.

The idea of a PS6″S” console was brought up by Moore’s Law is Dead, who had discussed its potential bill of materials by using Canis sitting at around $404.38. The idea was that, while the regular PS6 could be sold at around $700, the handheld could sit at the $500-600 spot, and the PS6S could be sold for around $400-500.

The team behind one of 2025’s best Soulslikes is allegedly no longer part of Leenzee after refusing to be relegated to support work.

We’d previously talked to you about whispers of trouble within the ranks of Wuchang: Fallen Feathers developer Leenzee, and more details have emerged as to what happened.

As reported by GamerSky, the exit of producer and director Xia Siyuan was reportedly due to a refusal to shift to outsourcing or supporting other projects. Other development team members voiced objections, leading to its dissolution.

With the game not seeing any updates for a while, the team’s exit might just be the death knell for a title that was quite a solid take on the Soulslike formula. There has been no official statement from the developer, especially about rumors surrounding future planned content (which was apparently in the works before Siyuan’s exit).

It’s a shame that we’re probably not going to see any new additions to Fallen Feathers. We’d have loved to join Wuchang on a new bunch of adventures, but alas. There’s always the possibility that Leenzee brings in a new team to work on DLC or additional content. However, we wouldn’t hold our breath on that front, especially since the Souls-like apparently underperformed. It’s going to be interesting to see how Leenzee manages the situation, but its silence at this point is rather ominous.

Following a report about the potential inclusion of Mayan elements, other myths could be involved in the alleged spin-off.

It’s been an interesting week, especially for rumors surrounding the next God of War, which allegedly stars Faye, Kratos’ wife from the Norse saga. Among all the alleged details shared by a FandomWire writer in a Reddit comment – that it includes Tyr, a talking sword called Merlin and even a sentient gelatinous cube as a companion – there may also be other mythologies involved.

MP1st claims to have heard about Chinese and Japanese mythological elements on top of the previously reported Mayan aspects. Of course, plans are always subject to change, but the fact that Merlin, who may or may not be the Arthurian wizard of legend, may be involved does lend more credence.

Regardless, we may not have to wait long to find out. Insider Gaming’s Tom Henderson claims it could be announced very soon, maybe even this month. Whether it appears during the next State of Play, allegedly scheduled for April 16th, remains to be seen.

Perhaps we’ll get a closer look at the reported Devil May Cry-style hack and slash combat, and how the alleged cube and sword come into play. If reports about a launch in 2027 are true, then fans will have something to help with the wait for God of War Trilogy Remake.

Accidentally knocked down another player without meaning to? The Mercy Kit now provides a do-over and a chance to become friends.

The mid-season balance update is now live for Bungie’s Marathon, and while it finally brings several weapons in line, there are some new activities and features to partake in. Check out the overview trailer below.

One of the more notable new additions is the Mercy Kit, which Rooks spawn in with. If you’ve ever inadvertently killed an opposing player without meaning to, you can use this to revive them. Whether they give you a receipt or not, well, that’s just a risk you’ll have to take. Solo players can also now discover Depleted Self-Revive kits, which provide avenues for revival if knocked down.

If you found the Rewards Pass underwhelming, especially on the Premium track, Bungie has added three new skins for the Thief, Assassin, and Destroyer. The Free track now contains a Recon skin, WSTR Shotgun skin, and profile emblem. As for C.A.R.R.I. or the CyberAcme Runner Reinforcement Initiative, it offers new Commendations that can be earned from completing contracts, extracting as Rook and more.

These can be exchanged for a “random stack of Salvage items or Reputation Packs that provide reputation for their associated faction.” If that wasn’t enough, solo players now earn increased XP and faction reputation, though the standard faction contracts grant more rep for all types of players.

Check out some of the patch notes below and full details here. You can also learn what’s next on the roadmap here.

Marathon Update 1.0.6

General

ONI has launched the C.A.R.R.I. or CyberAcme Runner Reinforcement Initiative, a new protocol that rewards both solo Runners and coordinated Crews for completing contract objectives and exfiling together.
– CyberAcme Commendations are a new material earned by helping crewmates complete contract objectives, completing contract objectives as a solo

Runner, or successfully exfiling as a Rook. Extra commendations can be earned when you exfil with other players outside of your Crew. Play nice, now.

Added Stay Together, a new end-of-run experimental feature that allows you to stay with the Runners you just successfully exfiled with by creating a new Crew with them. Who said you can’t make friends on Tau Ceti?
– Only one crewmate needs to successfully exfil for Stay Together to be available – if you’re eliminated, stay connected!

Added the capability to access the Rewards Pass from the top left display of SILK.

We want to increase the value of the Rewards Pass, both the Free and Premium tracks. As a result, we are adding four new Runner Shell styles, a WSTR Shotgun style, and a profile emblem to the Season 1 Rewards Pass:
– Premium Track: Thief, Assassin, Destroyer
– Free Track: Recon, WSTR Shotgun, Profile Emblem

Fixed an issue where the rank up rewards tutorial could be out of sequence.

Disciples of Arachne earnable shell styles are now available in the Codex.

Updated the Perimeter (Beginner) new player map to now be a solos-only map that remains available to players until Seasonal Level 12.
– The Perimeter (Beginner) map presents a reduced risk of encountering other Runners.

Added five new contracts for the Perimeter (Beginner) map.
– New and existing players under Seasonal Level 12 will also have access to new optional CyberAcme contracts tailored for the beginner experience to help with their first steps in Marathon.
– To help players understand the mechanics around the Perimeter Beginner contracts, these new contracts can only be progressed while in Perimeter Beginner or Perimeter Solo Runs.
– These contracts are no longer accessible after reaching Seasonal Level 12 and will be removed even if decrypted or active.

When the final exfil is active and there are less than 10 seconds remaining, the timer for other exfils will be reduced to match the remaining session timer. Tie goes to the Runner, after all.
Developer Note: Previously, the 10-second countdown for non-final exfils was being overwritten by the final exfil timer. Because the difference was only a few seconds, players would see the exfil animation and believe they successfully exfiltrated only to discover they did not in the Run Report. We think this change will result in last-second exfils feeling more “fair”.

Progression

Increased runner level and faction reputation earning for solo players.

Increased standard contract faction reputation rewards for all players.

Armory

The C.A.R.R.I. Armory allows you to spend CyberAcme Commendations for Salvage Crates that grant a random stack of Salvage items or Reputation Packs that provide reputation for their associated faction. Salvage Crate and Sponsored Kit stock refreshes daily while other C.A.R.R.I. offers do not refresh and can only be purchased once.

In a since-deleted social media post, Ben Jordan, the face of Peter Parker in the games, posted a picture of himself in mocap gear.

While Insomniac Games is currently busy with the development of Marvel’s Wolverine, it looks like the studio might have also started work on a new game in its Marvel’s Spider-Man series. As caught by IGN, the face model of protagonist Peter Parker, Ben Jordan, posted a picture of himself wearing motion capture equipment. The since-deleted post had a single text caption – “IYKYK”, which stands for “if you know you know”.

While the post itself isn’t available anymore, other social media users have managed to grab screenshots. You can check it out below. Whether this game will be a new mainline entry featuring the number “3” in its title, or whether it will be another spin-off in the vein of Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales, is currently unknown. It is worth noting that neither Sony nor Insomniac Games has made any official statement about a new Marvel’s Spider-Man game.

Jordan made his debut as the face of Peter Parker in Marvel’s Spider-Man Remastered, where he replaced original face model John Bubniak. At the time, Insomniac Games creative director Bryan Initihar said that the change was related to “finding a better facial match for actor Yuri Lowenthal.”

In the meantime, Marvel’s Wolverine is being developed for PS5 and is slated for release on September 15th. The studio announced the release date with a social media post back in February, where it also linked to its PlayStation Store page so fans could add it to their wishlists.

While wishlists may be live, Insomniac Games hasn’t yet started pre-orders for the title. When asked about this, the studio said, “We want to show you more of the game first.” This indicates that there will be a Marvel’s Wolverine-centric State of Play showcase between now and the game’s release.

Marvel’s Wolverine is going to be an entirely new story revolving around James “Logan” Howlett. The narrative will focus on Logan’s attempts to regain his memories, with several antagonistic factions and individuals trying their best to stop him. Some of the enemies that players will get to face include Reavers, Sentinels, and even iconic comic book characters like Omega Red. As is often the case with many X-Men stories, Mystique will also be involved in the story with her own motivations.

Logan’s voice actor, Liam J McIntyre, had taken to social media back in February to discuss his work with the game. In a post, he wrote that he had been “working on this for almost as long as my son has been alive. I’ve been waiting for this day for a long time…not long now!!!”

The actor has previously also praised Insomniac Games. ” It means so much to us, and especially the developers who are pouring EVERYTHING into making this the game you dream of,” he wrote back in November 2025. “You rock. Can’t wait to show you more next year.

Interestingly, a report from back in January has indicated that Sony is treating the upcoming Grand Theft Auto 6 – out on November 19th – like a PS5-exclusive. To that end, the company has also planned the release dates for its other games, like Marvel’s Wolverine, to appropriately avoid “the blast zone” that will be created when Rockstar’s game finally comes out.

Windows Central's Jez Corden has noted that Xbox is the only consumer-facing ecosystem Microsoft has with "clout with customers."

In light of new Microsoft Gaming CEO Asha Sharma discussing how expensive Game Pass has gotten in an internal memo, it looks like it might be part of larger conversations happening at Microsoft about the future of Xbox. According to Windows Central’s Jez Corden in a recent episode of the Xbox 2 podcast with Rand al Thor 19, executives at the company are discussing whether Xbox should become an ecosystem-centric company, or if it should be a general game publisher.

“You know I said they were thinking about adjusting Game Pass, there’s a very very very big discussion about the exclusivity stuff going on right now internally,” he said. “I think they do recognize the value, you know, it’s just what type of company you want to be at the end of the day. Do you want to be an ecosystem company first or do you want to be a publisher company first?”

Corden brought up comparisons with Microsoft’s Surface device line-up, which originally launched to much hype and fanfare before eventually becoming, as Corden described it, “a shadow of its former self.”

“You can’t do both well, either the hardware operation will shrink to basically what Surface is now, a shadow of its former self, not its deathbed,” he said. “Do you really want that for your Xbox brand, which is the only consumer-facing ecosystem that has any form of clout with consumers? And Satya said in the leaked conversation with the staff that Xbox also has value on the corporate side, because when I meet with a lot of executives, they don’t want to talk about cloud, they want to talk about Xbox. They want to talk about Halo. They want to talk about Xbox games. It’s where you reach your consumers when they’re not working. I think increasingly they recognise this.”

“But the discussions are ongoing because at the end of the day, they leave money on the table, and it’s hard to fight against the spreadsheet.”

The internal memo where Sharma discussed Game Pass being too expensive was discovered earlier this week, where she also spoke about the importance of the subscription service to the larger Xbox brand.

“Game Pass is central to gaming value on Xbox. It’s also clear that the current model isn’t the final one. Short term, Game Pass has become too expensive for players, so we need a better value equation. Long term, we will evolve Game Pass into a more flexible system, which will take time to test and learn around,” says the memo.

Currently, no plans seem to have been put into place to address Game Pass pricing. However, Sharma has noted that she plans to “go deeper” with employees to discuss the future.

The memo was discovered just a couple of weeks after rumors started flying around of a new subscription tier coming to Game Pass. Caught by dataminers, the plan seemingly revolves around only featuring first-party games published by Xbox, with some of the titles including Hellblade, Ori and the Blind Forest, State of Decay 2, and Gears 5, among many others.

Data from a recent Rockstar Games hacked has indicated that Red Dead Online has made an average of $2.6 million yearly for two years.

Rockstar Games had revealed earlier this week that it had been the victim of a hack, resulting in a “limited amount of non-material company information” being accessed “in connection with a third-party data breach.” Now, according to Kotaku, the hacking group, known as ShinyHunters, has released the leaked data, which features details about Grand Theft Auto Online and Red Dead Online.

According to this data, Rockstar Games made, on average, around $1.3 million in daily revenue from just Grand Theft Auto Online over the last year. Taking a wider look, the weekly revenue for the online game comes in at around $9.5 million. For comparison, Red Dead Online doesn’t seem to be nearly as profitable, bringing in an average of $507,193 on a weekly basis. For an entire year – from September 2025 to April 2026 – Grand Theft Auto Online has seemingly generated around $498.8 million. The numbers for Red Dead Online, the two-year period between June 2024 and March 2026, generated an average of $26.4 million in yearly revenue.

The data also includes revenue by platform. The PS5 version of Grand Theft Auto Online seems to be the most popular, with around 3.4 million weekly active users, who generate around $4.4 million through weekly purchases in-game. The PS4 is the second most popular, with 1.8 million weekly active users generating $973,308. Xbox Series X/S saw 1.1 million weekly active users, making Rockstar Games around $1.8 million, and Xbox One still sees around a million weekly players, generating $918,373. PC is in last place, with 894,621 weekly players generating $264,273.

It is worth noting that the PC version’s low revenue generation might come down to the fact that the platform allows players to play modded versions of Grand Theft Auto Online. This, along with the popularity of custom servers that support a variety of mods, means that players are less likely to partake in Rockstar Games’ in-game microtransaction options like Shark Cards.

Rockstar Games, for its part, hasn’t commented on any of the data that has been released by the hackers, which should also bring into question their veracity.

ShinyHunters had gotten its hands on the data over the weekend by taking advantage of Rockstar Games’ instances in Snowflake by using the recently breached Anodot. The group had announced that it would be releasing all of the data unless the company paid them by today. While ShinyHunters promised “several annoying (digital) problems” would pop up for Rockstar Games, the Grand Theft Auto 6 developer simply responded by saying that it “has no impact on our organization or our players.”

Grand Theft Auto 6 is deep in development as Rockstar Games, along with parent company Take-Two Interactive, get ready for its November 19th release on PS5 and Xbox Series X/S. While few details have been released as part of the company’s careful marketing strategies, a report from last month has indicated that its development costs may go over $2 billion. For more, check out our thoughts on whether Grand Theft Auto 6 is going to be the most expensive game ever made.

"Long term, we will evolve Game Pass into a more flexible system," says Asha Sharma in an alleged internal memo to employees.

Besides a “return to Xbox” and seemingly pushing some much-needed quality-of-life for Achievements, Microsoft Gaming CEO Asha Sharma is also reportedly focused on Game Pass. More specifically, as an internal memo obtained by The Verge notes, she expressed concern about the service and how it’s currently “too expensive for players.”

While Sharma didn’t outline any immediate plans, she will allegedly “go deeper” with employees next week. Interestingly, “online chatter” about Game Pass potentially changing its pricing is something she’s apparently aware of.

Game Pass came under fire last October when Microsoft announced a revamp of the tiers and increased the price of Ultimate to $30 monthly. It also revealed that Premium, the second-highest tier, would receive Xbox-published titles within a year of launch (excluding new Call of Duty titles).

Microsoft has allegedly explored other options for the service, such as removing Call of Duty as a day one launch (which could happen this year). A subscription could be offered for cheap, thus fulfilling Sharma’s purported goal of better value. There may be some substance to the Triton tier recently unearthed by dataminers, which reportedly includes only first-party Xbox games.

Whether that means new Call of Duty games will be included in a brand new tier or removed entirely remains to be seen. As for the next game in the series, it’s allegedly Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 and launching in October.

The potential for a God of War game showcased at the State of Play would run counter to it reportedly being third-party-focused.

With rumors of Sony potentially hosting a State of Play showcase this week flying around, Insider Gaming’s Tom Henderson believes that we might get to see the next mainline God of War game at the event. In a recent episode of the Insider Gaming Weekly podcast, the hosts discussed what games could be showcased during the unconfirmed State of Play, including the idea that it could be a third-party-focused showcase.

While he acknowledged the third-party focus rumors, Henderson went on to note that, “I also heard separately, like last month, that the God of War was due to be announced very soon, and in April.” While the other hosts speculate about whether this reveal could be slated for June instead, Henderson went on to talk about whether this State of Play will also feature first-party reveals. “I’m just wondering if the State of Play is going to be third-party only, or if it’s going to be a State of Play where they also announce God of War. I know that [Insomniac Games] keep saying on Twitter that they’re going to announce something in Spring, so that could also line up with another [Marvel’s Wolverine] trailer.”

“I don’t know, but there’s definitely too much smoke,” he said, referring to the number of rumors going around about Sony’s slate of first-party games.

The hosts also go on to discuss whether, similar to games like Ghost of Yōtei, Sony will decide to host a separate State of Play event dedicated to just Marvel’s Wolverine, leaving this rumored State of Play to focus on third-party games.

Rumors about the State of Play this week—expected to take place on April 16th—came about over the weekend courtesy of industry insider NateTheHate. While there were already reports of Sony planning another showcase before its big one in June, in a recent social media post, he wrote about the event’s date, noting that it was “unconfirmed”. In a follow-up post, NateTheHate also stated that this State of Play “Sounds more third-party focused; but I’m not 100% certain.”

While details about what this new mainline entry in the God of War franchise might look like, there have been reports giving us vague hints about the title. Among these was one from March, which indicated that it would star Faye—wife of God of War protagonist Kratos—as the protagonist. Since her death starts off the story of God of War (2018), however, where this entry would fall in the timeline remains to be seen.

The report has also indicated that it will be more action-oriented than the two recent God of War entries based on Norse mythology. Since the games had also revealed that his Leviathan Axe once belonged to Faye, we will likely see the weapon return in some form.

Interestingly, a God of War Ragnarök datamine from back in February seemingly discovered hidden cutscenes, which could provide hints about where the franchise will go next. Among the characters featured in these cutscenes was Athena, who was discussing the events of God of War Ragnarök with other “beings from the higher plane”.
