Previous reports had indicated that the PS5 version didn't come out alongside PC and Xbox Series X/S version because it wasn't ready.

While Microsoft had originally planned to release open-world racing game Forza Horizon 6 on PS5 later this year, it looks like plans may have changed. A social media post by The Verge’s Tom Warren over the weekend indicates that the title has been pushed out of the 2026 release window. In its own report, IGN said that it “understands this to be accurate”, while also noting that Microsoft hasn’t yet made any official statement regarding the matter.

It is worth noting that Playground Games and Microsoft last spoke about the PS5 version of Forza Horizon 6 back in January. Since then, however, no details have been released aside from a supposed 2026 release window. Reports at the time indicated that the PS5 version of the racing game simply wasn’t ready, unlike upcoming RPG Fable, which will come to PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X/S on the same date.

“It just wasn’t ready. I don’t know how true that is, because I mean, it’s going to be absolutely massive, but that game would be absolutely massive if it’s launching on everything day one, right? You’d kind of think that’s a bit of a hindrance for them,” said VGC’s Andy Robinson. “I mean, even Xbox stalwarts are starting to drift away from playing on the console now. It’ll have a humongous PC launch, but PS5, I mean, look at Indiana Jones: The Great Circle. It did so well when it came out on PS5 afterwards.”

While Microsoft may have been planning to release Forza Horizon 6 on PS5 by the end of the year, it is also quite likely that the upcoming release of Grand Theft Auto 6 may have had a hand in changing plans. Rockstar announced its current November 19th release date in November 2025, and while there may have been some doubts in the industry about yet another potential delay for the game, the more recent Extended Look has more or less set the release date for Rockstar’s title in stone.

It is also unlikely that Microsoft may have decided to secretly cancel the PS5 version of Forza Horizon 6, especially since Xbox CEO Asha Sharma spoke about the company sticking to its multi-platform release plans for games that had already been announced.

Forza Horizon 6 was released on PC and Xbox Series X/S earlier this year, and since then, Playground Games has continued to support the title with post-launch updates. The newest addition to the racer – Drift Attack – was showcased just last week. The game mode essentially allows players to compete with each other at certain locations across the game’s map, with the goal being to get the best drift score over a number of laps. The game mode will be free to all players, and also comes with its own Collection Journal that allows for more unlocks when certain things are accomplished in Drift Attack.

In our review of Forza Horizon 6, we gave it a score of 9 out of 10 thanks to its excellent driving mechanics and a variety of content across a well-designed and beautiful open world. Our only problems were that the progression felt more linear compared to previous entries, and that the title sticks to the formula a bit too much.

Rockstar North co-studio head Rob Nelson will reportedly need to consult with the technical team to see if it's possible.

As every bit of Grand Theft Auto 6 – its Extended Look, its hands-off impressions, its deep dives – is picked apart for details, one aspect remains a mystery: The performance. Naturally, it ran at 30 frames per second on PlayStation 5 during the showcase, but Davy Jones of Flow Games claims (via machine translation) that 60 FPS is up in the air.

Allegedly speaking to Rockstar North co-studio head Rob Nelson, the latter said that such a Performance Mode, either at launch or later, would require consulting with the “technical team.” It also seems that other details, including resolution and ray tracing, are unknown.

Of course, experts such as Digital Foundry, which observed the Extended Look to apparently run at 4K upscaled from a native 1440p, expressed doubts about whether 60 FPS support is possible. Because of how Rockstar’s open-world titles are built, depending more on CPU than GPU power, it seems that even the PS5 Pro couldn’t achieve that frame rate. GTA 6 is confirmed to support the latter, even as specifics remain – you guessed it – unknown.

Nevertheless, they praised the current 30 FPS performance, calling it “relatively stable and well-paced” with “only very occasional single frame drops.” It theorizes that it must have taken “immense effort” to achieve this, and we’re inclined to agree. Just take one look at the sheer fidelity and density of the world.

Grand Theft Auto 6 launches on November 19th for Xbox Series X/S and PS5, so there’s plenty of time to learn more. In the meantime, you can check out our feature for all the details from the Extended Look, including a few that you may not have noticed.

The never-announced project was seemingly in development targeting PS3 and would have likely also come to Xbox 360 and PC.

Avalanche Studios – the team behind open-world games like Just Cause and Mad Max – was at one point working on a game based on Iron Man. While its development was never announced to the public, and the game has long-since been cancelled, new footage has popped up that gives us a look at some of its earlier builds from the 2010s. Check it out on the Internet Archive.

As caught by Reddit user LeimBR, the footage, split up across eight videos, was uploaded by the same user who has in the past showcased early builds of Grand Theft Auto 5, and even footage from the canceled Rockstar Games project Agent.

While the videos are of early builds of the Iron Man project, with copyright information on some scenes indicating that it was from 2012, we do get a pretty good idea of what kind of gameplay it would have featured. One video featured gameplay from a demo that was seemingly made for E3 2012, and offered two distinct gameplay demos: “Kinetic Combat” and “Freestyle Flight”.

The title would have seemingly taken many of its cues from the Marvel Cinematic Universe version of the character, which would have been quite popular at the time. The HUD for the game seems to focus on minimalism, with elements showing up to denote the number of hits in a combo, XP earned, and even remaining health showing up as needed. A radar was also placed in the top-right corner that would have warned the player about the number of foes ahead.

A progression system was also seemingly planned through which players could upgrade various aspects of Iron Man’s capabilities, like speed, defense, damage, and extra weapons.

The “Freestyle Flight” demo, as its name implies, focused more on Iron Man’s aerial capabilities. Along with flight itself, the character would also be capable of engaging in combat, having to take on a variety of paramilitary aircrafts.

The uploader for the video has noted that all of this gameplay footage is from a restored early build of the game running on a PS3 development kit. This, along with the 2012 copyright year, indicates that Avalanche was going to bring it to PS3 and Xbox 360. Considering the studio’s work at the time, a PC release may also have been planned. Evidence of the game running on old console generation hardware is quite visible throughout the videos, with things like long loading times, low-resolution textures, and even the hazy brown look of the games of that era being all over the place.

As for what would eventually cause this game to be cancelled, Avalanche Studios co-founder Christofer Sundberg said back in 2022 that “company politics” got in the way, with tight deadlines meaning that the studio would have to massively increase its workforce.

In the meantime, a new Iron Man game is confirmed to be in development at EA Motive. While no details about the project have been revealed, job listings have indicated that it will feature “major singleplayer levels”, and that those applying for the job would also need to have experience with single-player action RPG games.

S-Game's hack-and-slash action RPG reportedly earned $14.5 million in revenue on PC about two months before its October release.

Phantom Blade Zero has “far exceeded expectations” with its pre-orders, according to S-Game, and Alinea Analytics’ Rhys Elliott estimates it’s sold 300,000 units so far on Steam. This has reportedly generated $14.5 million in revenue.

Elliott also echoed GameDiscover’s estimates about the number of wishlists, claiming that it passed 1.6 million. Apparently, the number increased significantly after its trailer at The Game Awards, though how much the recent extended trailer showcase and dedicated State of Play contributed remains unknown. Of course, since there’s allegedly some overlap between those who wishlisted the game and played Black Myth: Wukong, one may assume it will perform well in China.

Speaking to gaming consultant Daniel Camilo, the latter said that while the hype is “nowhere near” the same as for Wukong, it’s reportedly “considerably higher than what we saw before the launch of Wuchang.” It also seems local brands have announced licensing deals and partnerships with Phantom Blade Zero, and also scored a publishing license for a simultaneous launch in Mainland China.

“So that will allow S Game and all its partners to visibly boost the marketing beyond what most games that don’t have a license usually do in China,” said Camilo.

Phantom Blade Zero launches on October 29th for PS5 and PC. You can check our thoughts on the latest Deep Dive here. It’s expected to take about 30 to 40 hours to finish the story, but there are three difficulty options. That includes the unlockable 66 Days Mode, where each death ticks down the number of days that Soul has left to live.

Stephanie Panisello and Jeff Schine reportedly return to voice the Redfield siblings in Capcom's next remake, which launches in 2027.

Resident Evil Veronica is Capcom’s next big entry in the survival horror series, currently slated for 2027, while rumors abound that Resident Evil Zero is getting the remake treatment next. And if you’re curious about who’s playing who, an anonymous source speaking to MP1st claims to have inside knowledge.

While nothing is officially confirmed, Stephanie Panisello will reportedly voice Claire Redfield, following up on her performance in Resident Evil 2 Remake (we don’t talk about the CG films). Jeff Schine, who voiced Chris Redfield in Resident Evil Village, is also allegedly returning alongside Craig Burnatowski, who started voicing Albert Wesker from Resident Evil 4 Remake onwards.

Other notable performers apparently include Matthew Castle (who acted in Transformers: The Last Knight) as Steve Burnside, Vincent Kerschbaum as Rodrigo Juan Raval (who reportedly has a larger role), Andrew Wheildon-Dennis as Alfred Ashford and Lizabeth Helian as Alexia Ashford. Interestingly, there are reportedly two unknown roles played by Phoebe O’Donovan and Lucy Aarden, the former especially interesting since she worked on Resident Evil Requiem as a production runner.

As for the rumored Resident Evil Zero Remake (apparently codenamed “Chamber” per MP1st), it allegedly features Jon McLaren as Billy Coen and Hallea Jones as Rebecca Chambers. With a rumored launch date in 2028, it may be a while before more details emerge.

Resident Evil Veronica, on the other hand, is coming to Xbox Series X/S, PS5, PC, and Nintendo Switch 2, allegedly in the first half of 2027. Stay tuned for more updates on its status in the coming weeks, especially with Tokyo Game Show set for September.

Leaker Kepler_L2 also claims that despite RAM prices fluctuating "a lot," Sony is "most likely" selling PS5 and PS5 Pro "at/near cost."

While Sony still hasn’t set a launch date for the PlayStation 6, rumors about its cost aren’t exactly encouraging. And for those hoping the alleged handheld version will be cheaper, leaker Kepler_L2 claims that won’t be the case.

Asked by a NeoGAF user about what’s happening with LPDDR5X prices and whether the handheld could be priced at $600, they responded, “$600 is definitely not possible right now. LPDDR memory is actually seeing the biggest price increases since it’s being used in a lot of data center products.”

Given that the company has enough RAM for the rest of the year, one has to wonder how much this will affect current console prices. When asked how much the PS5 and PS5 Pro were being subsidized, Kepler_L2 replied, “RAM prices fluctuate a lot right now, and I don’t know how good of a contract Sony managed to get, so it’s hard to say, but they are most likely selling at/near cost.”

As a result, it’s unlikely to announce further price hikes any time soon. That could change heading into next year, especially with concerns that memory shortages could continue well into 2028.

Of course, it also only further crushes hopes that it could subsidize the cost of the PlayStation 6, whose reported bill of materials is nearly $1,000. Sony CEO Hiroki Totoki previously said it wasn’t planning to sell hardware at significant losses, but as always, the situation surrounding its next-gen console remains up in the air. Perhaps we’ll learn more next year, when its rumored to launch – stay tuned for updates until then.

Rockstar Games has fallen victim to a new source of Grand Theft Auto 6 leaks, perpetrated by an entity known as CyberLeek. While Take-Two has subpoenaed Microsoft and Discord for information on their identity (as discovered by Kotaku), the developer is allegedly still unsure how it happened.

This is according to an anonymous source speaking to Bloomberg’s Jason Schreier, who also noted that the perpetrator has not been identified (though it’s “all hands on deck” to find them). While Rockstar is going ahead with the promised Netflix reveal next week, “leaders and many employees” at the studio have been angered by the leaks. Others were reportedly feeling “frustrated and exhausted,” and it’s probably not just because they’re in the final three months of development.

When Grand Theft Auto 6 alpha gameplay leaked back in 2022, Rockstar took several steps to bolster its security. This included ending any work-from-home privileges and even reportedly shutting down a personal Discord. It led to 34 employees being fired for alleged breach of security, thus prompting legal proceedings.

Regardless, you can still look forward to Grand Theft Auto 6’s Extended Look on August 27th at 3 PM ET on Netflix before it hits YouTube and the official website at 9 PM ET. The game launches on November 19th for Xbox Series X/S and PS5.

According to Jason Schreier, most of these projects eventually fell apart for "a variety of reasons", leaving only Destiny 2 and Marathon.

While Bungie currently seems to have its hands full with trying to make PvPvE extraction shooter Marathon more successful, a report by Bloomberg’s Jason Schreier has indicated that the studio once had several projects in development. In a new video, Schreier said that the team was working on Destiny 2, Marathon, and other games for a total of “five or six” projects before the studio was acquired by Sony.

“As part of that acquisition, Bungie also had a whole bunch of other live service games in the works that Sony wanted to see come out in the subsequent years in addition to, of course, Destiny 2, which is Bungie’s big ongoing project,” he explained before going on to discuss how “most of those projects fell apart” over the course of time “for a variety of reasons”.

It is worth noting that, currently, Bungie is in quite a dire state, having been hit by layoffs back in June that involved 292 job cuts. Many of these developers had been working on Destiny 2 at the time, according to Sony’s Herman Hulst. Reports at the time had also indicated that studio head Justice Truman was stepping down.

In July, this would then be followed by the departure of Marathon’s game director, Joe Ziegler. The role has since been taken on by Del Chafe III, and Julia Nardin has been made the creative director on the title.

“Both of them have been operating in a strong leadership capacity for the team and are ready to guide Marathon into the next chapter with an even better and brighter future. As for me, I’ll be heading to something new, somewhere else, and will update you on where and what soon.”

As recently as last month, Bungie had continued to experiment with Marathon by bringing in the game’s first true PvE mode – Vault Breaker. The mode tasked players with heading into the Cryo Archive, where they would face UESC enemies. No other players are present for this game mode aside from the player’s own team. There are also options for Duos and Trios matchmaking, as well as a solo mode.

The studio is also currently working on Season 3 content for Marathon. Slated for launch on September 22nd, the season will bring revamps to Perimeter as well as a brand-new Runner Shell.

Marathon is available on PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X/S. For more details, check out our thoughts on its PvE game mode, as well as our review from when the extraction shooter first came out.

As for Destiny 2, Bungie had announced that it was ending support for the shooter back in May. It got its final content update in June, and there are currently no confirmed plans for the franchise moving forward. Rumors had also indicated that, contrary to popular belief, there was no Destiny 3 in development at Bungie. In the meantime, however, Destiny and Destiny 2 are both still playable, and there don’t seem to be any plans to shut down the servers, at least for now.

The special edition console that celebrates the 25th anniversary of Xbox is seemingly planned for a strategic launch on Black Friday.

While Microsoft had confirmed back in June that it would be releasing a special edition Xbox Series X console to celebrate Xbox’s 25th anniversary, the company hadn’t revealed any details like launch date or price. According to Billbil-kun of Dealabs, however, it looks like the launch is being lined up with Black Friday on November 27th.

In their report, Billbil-kun has also indicated that it will be priced at around $899.99 in the US, and €899.99 in Europe. It is believed to be equivalent to the price of a PS5 Pro, and will be €100 more expensive than a regular Xbox Series X 1 TB.

Microsoft hasn’t made any official statement regarding the matter. However, if the console – dubbed Xbox Series X25 – were to come out during Black Friday, it would likely lead to higher console sales for the company. The day is often marked by the presence of several deep discounts across various retailers, and as such, tends to be a day where quite a bit of shopping happens.

The Xbox Series X25 console is designed to be a throwback to the original Xbox, which was launched all the way back in 2001. Referencing the black and green aesthetics of the original, the new limited-edition console will have a translucent green plastic shell with plenty of etchings on it. The celebration also involves a similarly themed translucent green controller with “Xbox 25” printed on it next to the right analog stick.

Both the Xbox Series X25 and the Xbox Wireless Controller X25 Special Edition will be available as a bundle. Players who already own a console can also simply pick up just the controller when it’s finally out.

Keeping in mind the price jump between a regular Xbox Series X and the Xbox Series X25, the controller likely has a similar price hike when compared to the standard one that comes with the console. However, details on this have not been revealed.

The console was unveiled just a few months after Asha Sharma took the reins of Xbox as the division’s new CEO. In April, she unveiled the company’s “We Are Xbox” marketing campaign, which involved the unveiling of a brand-new logo that also called back to the black and green color scheme of the original Xbox.

The new logo came shortly after Sharma and CCO Matt Booty announced that the Microsoft Gaming division was being rebranded to Xbox.

“‘Microsoft Gaming’ describes our structure, but it does not describe our ambition,” they said in a joint statement. “So, we are going back to where we started and changing our team’s name. We are Xbox. We are a high agency culture where wild and wonderful ideas thrive. Our job is not to smooth over our differences, but to connect everyone into something greater than any one studio or product.”

In the months since then, the company has gone through several major shifts, including massive layoffs affecting approximately 1,600 jobs across Xbox. Sharma also confirmed that around 1,600 more job cuts were planned for the rest of the fiscal year.

The latest update, released earlier this month, has cleaned up some of the game's shorelines, and even visually refined a distant island.

It looks like Crimson Desert might be getting ready to expand its world map as developer Pearl Abyss continues work on its DLC. According to a new video by NANGPLE, some of the changes that were made in the recent updates for Crimson Desert have indicated that the title’s expansion might go for a nautical theme.

Some of the changes spotted by NANGPLE include the addition of blue seaweed showing up underwater, and coastlines now having white, sandy terrain. Outside of the game’s explorable zone, the YouTuber has also spotted some changes in the visible horizon. A region that has often been referred to by fans of the game as South Island has seen some visual enhancements, which indicates that Pearl Abyss might make it an explorable zone with the expansion.

The waters close to the northern desert region have also seen some changes, with some of the nearby underwater areas becoming more visible. Along with this, players have also managed to find hints of a submerged island on the eastern side of the map.

While Pearl Abyss itself hasn’t revealed any details about what we might see in the Crimson Desert expansion, these changes would imply that new additions might have a nautical theme to them. Whether this means players will get their own methods for traversing the waters or if it will simply end up being a new area, however, remains to be seen.

The latest update for Crimson Desert introduced major improvements to the open-world game, with the biggest one being the ability to conduct research by spending Camp Funds rather than Silver. Players can also find a new Quest section in the Knowledge menu, which provides more details about every activity in the game, including Daily Life Quests, Constellations, and even Main Quests.

Other changes made with the update include new options for Lock-On Camera Rotation, fixes for when some special mounts could get stuck when trying to cross low ledges, and even a fix for an issue where a player couldn’t climb through windows despite the lack of any obstacles.

Crimson Desert is currently available on PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X/S. In the meantime, Pearl Abyss is also working on a Nintendo Switch 2 version. While the studio had originally spoken about investigating a potential port, earlier this month, it confirmed that it is targeting the first half of 2027 for the Switch 2 release.

“In the case of Switch 2, the game has reached a playable baseline, and we are currently conducting technical reviews regarding performance optimization and quality standard compliance, targeting a release in the first half of next year.”

The port seemingly requires more time because the studio has noted that “platform expansion is not merely a straightforward port – the key requirement is ensuring that the game’s graphics, combat action, and seamless open-world experience are fully preserved on each target device.”

As for the DLC, Pearl Abyss has said that it is targeting a 2026 release, and that more details about it will be revealed in the company’s third quarter of the current fiscal year, which could mean any point before September 30th.
