The upcoming patch will let players toggle between the current and original graphics.
You wouldn’t think Square Enix could possibly botch a port of Chrono Trigger, one of the most iconic role playing games in history, but you’d be wrong. Ecstasy quickly turned to anger when Chrono Trigger arrived on Steam. Fans complained about the graphics, numerous bugs and how the game was little more than a bad port of the Android version.
The developer had announced updates to improve the overall experience. Today, it confirmed that the first update would arrive in the first half of April. Its biggest change is the ability to switch between the game’s current high-res graphics and the original graphics that defined Chrono Trigger. More changes will be coming but Square Enix said that, “We’re working very hard on adjusting, updating and supporting CHRONO TRIGGER on Steam.”
To adjust for the fact that patches will be coming, the Limited Edition’s availability has been extended till April 30th, 5 PM BST/ 9 AM PDT. If you’re still skeptical about the patch’s effectiveness, then just wait for it to release first before picking up the Limited Edition.
