Chrono Trigger

Out of no where, Square Enix has released Chrono Trigger on Steam, bringing the SNES RPG classic to PC after a long time. Unfortunately, while it’s touted as the “definitive version” on the Steam listing, fans are already up in arms over the port.

That’s because the port is apparently based on the iOS version of the game instead of the superior Nintendo DS version. The Dimension Vortex and Lost Sanctum dungeons from the DS versions are included here though along with support for keyboard and gamepad and autosave while free roaming.

Chrono Trigger costs $15 on Steam with a limited edition that will be available to April 2nd. If you purchase it before then, you’ll receive six wallpapers for PC, digital liner notes from Mitsuda and additional music to download. The Steam version currently has a “Mostly Negative” rating based off of +30 review so keep that in mind if you don’t mind the game’s mobile nature.
