Scorpio IMO is an elite mid gen upgrade for those that want it. Just like PS4-Pro is as otherwise it could be classed as MS’s next gen console.

As for price debate people that want Scorpio will pay, just like what we witnessed with PS3 vs 360 prices back in the day. IMO the price isn’t the thing to worry about, it’s the lack of support when compared to what we already have with PS4/Pro that could hold back sales on Scorpio.

Best way to explain SS & DS is an image is rendered at a higher resolution from the one the display uses(supersampled), & resized to said resolution using algorithms just like the ones used when resizing an image in an image editing software(downsampled). Either way it works wonders on PS4-Pro and should do on Scorpio.

Sony had a job listing late May 2015 for a senior Programmer to work on their next gen system. I could easily see PS5 launching Fall 2018 to destroy Scorpio even though Fall 2019 makes more sense.

Fall 2019, early 2020. PS4 Pro has a 3 year span. It’s a mid gen console in a 6 year gen.

The new PS4 Pro is not a replacement for the PS4. It’s an elite mid gen upgrade for those that want it. It’s basically more of the same.

XB Scorpio on the other hand is not an XB1 upgrade. It’s designed to fix everything that was wrong with the XB1 and try to get MS back into contention. But it’s price is going to knock it back into second place again, unless MS sell at a loss.

MS are forced to try and derail Horizon Zero Dawn because it basically threatens the whole Scorpio concept. Horizon Zero Dawn is filling a 4K screen with silky smooth awesome imagery on very cheep hardware. Compare that to Scorpio which is going for expensive brute force native 4K which will end up doing exactly the same thing.

The reason why both Sony and MS are using the same tech this gen is because AMD are setting the pace by developing the tech. AMD developed the tech and went to Sony and MS as potential customers and claimed that PC scalability would be good way forward for both of them.

Yes it was. And it’s great. It gave birth to the best console ever made.
Both platform holders were allowed to tinker with the design to add custom features, but unfortunately MS made all the wrong decisions with the XB1, so expect Scorpio to be powerful PS4 clone.
