Crash Bandicoot Redesign Seen at Vicarious Vision Offices

Could this mean a new title in the near future?

Crash Bandicoot, the first platforming franchise developed by Naughty Dog, has had a rough history. From being a part of four successful titles with the Dog, he was then bounced from one developer-publisher duo to another. It’s amazing to think that the franchise, which started out as part of Sony, made its way to Konami, Vivendi, friggin’ Sierra and finally resides at Activision.

Such is the love for the character that co-creator Jason Rubin hopes that Activision will “Bring Crash back to their glory days and that the character is still very dear to fans between 17-49 years”.

Apparently, this hasn’t gone unheeded as a new design for the Bandicoot was spotted as Vicarious Visions office just recently.

Like an odd mix of Banjo from Banjo-Kazooie and the original Crash, the redesign looks…odd to say the least. As for Vicarious Visions, you’ll probably know them best as the developers behind Guitar Hero and Skylanders. Thankfully, as the recent Skylanders: Giants has shown, they’re able to crank out quality platformers but if a new Crash title is indeed in development, can they deliver on the signature style and tone of the series?

Thanks, Neogaf.
