Crytek has promised to all its gamers that all the future Crysis games will be playable in 3D, just as their upcoming Crysis 2 will be playable in 3D on the Xbox 360, PS3 and PC. In an interview with CVG, Crytek boss Cervat Yerli said, “Crysis on consoles for us is pretty much taking the ground that Crysis games will be 3D now and in the future. Console gamers haven’t seen the original Crysis yet and when we launch Crysis 2 it’s kind of like a re-launch of the franchise. We want to make sure people associate the Crysis brand with 3D gaming in the future.
“But we also want to make sure that it’s for a reason – we want to turn the TV as well as the monitor in to a window into a new world. Once people play in 3D the way we’ve demonstrated, I don’t think you’ll want to not play in 3D ever again.”
On 3D gaming being in danger of becoming a ‘fad,’ Yerli said: “I think that it will stay around. As soon as the first affordable 3DTVs arrive I think it’s a no-brainer at that point, everyone will adapt. Initially there will be a more hardcore audience. I don’t think every game will be 3D right away, but there will be some high-end production value games that will be 3D and will benefit from it.”
Stay tuned, there will be more information coming your way.
