"It’s interesting to see him back gameplay so much ahead of graphics, as if it’s the most integral part of the games they make. He wants someone to be able solve the riddle of making 3D impact the gameplay in a meaningful way." - 3D isn't so much about the graphics but the experience. If you orient 3D right into video games, the immersion and experience you get from that game can be greatly increased. This is one thing many games seem to lack anymore. Seeing a Helghast run at you, guns blazing in 2D sure, looks nice. But now put on your 3D glasses and experience that same thing in QUALITY 3D. It's a different feel to say the least.

"“And you can’t point to anything that makes you go, “Once you play this on 3D, then you know why you want to play 3D”.”" - I can point out one game that does that, at least for me. I started playing Uncharted 3 in 3D. Beat the story once and used 3D all the way through. After I decided that I didn't want to fiddle with things too much and tried picking up some of the trophies in 2D... Honestly when going from 3D to 2D, it just didn't feel right. I think too if many people saw quality games like Killzone 3, Resistance 3, and Uncharted 3 in 3D they WOULD know why 3D is the thing to get.

While I do understand not wanting to sacrafice gameplay, titles have shown that you don't have to sacrafice gameplay to do 3D and do it well. If you can incorporate 3D in a quality title, that 3D doesn't hinder the outcome. The 3D compatibility just gives 3DTV owners another option to experience the game and in my opinion could do more to add to the experience rather than take away from it.
