Darksiders Genesis

THQ Nordic promised a different kind of Darksiders en route to E3 2019. It’s turned out to be Darksiders Genesis, developed by Airship Syndicate, and slated to release later this year for Xbox One, PS4, Nintendo Switch, PC, and Google Stadia. As a spin-off to the main series, Genesis is more of an action RPG looter akin to Diablo.

Taking place after the war on Eden which saw the Nephilim destroyed, Horsemen of the Apocalypse Strife and War are tasked with killing Lucifer. Apparently the demon king wants to upset the balance and empower the demons of Hell. Our heroes will work to uncover the conspiracy happening behind the scenes and attempt to stop Lucifer.

It’s not Darksiders 4, but Darksiders Genesis does serve as an interesting prequel to the main series’ story. We get to see the world before the first game’s events and play from a top down perspective. Time will tell if the combat is as compelling as Diablo or even competitors like Path of Exile so stay tuned for more information. Meanwhile, check out the trailer below courtesy of IGN.
