I just read your comment today. You are lucky this pre-order program has already been canceled. Or else, I would have found you and taken away your keyboard to prevent you from typing anything this stupid again.

In this case the pre-order items don't seem to make a difference to me. But when Mortal Kombat X, or Super Smash Bros wants me to pay $5 per character after paying for the entire game, I do feel cheated.
So I either wait for a collector's edition, or don't buy it. Hopefully others will do the same.

You may change your tune once this becomes common practice and death threats are sent out across Twitter to anyone who refuses to pre-order, even if they intend to buy later.

Bluntly....I disagree with this opinion piece.
It's a side affect of how people think games are developed and resources are assigned. The customer perception is that everything is designed, tested, released and the customer should get it all for one price. In reality the game is designed and corners are cut to stay on budget. If there is something the customers might really want AND will pay for it (pre-order/dlc/exclusives), then the developer gets PERMISSION to assign resources to add a secondary/tertiary development cycle that includes that stuff. It helps keep staff employed and in some cases ensures that staff will be around to fix/release bug fixes.

The Pre-Order for Deux Ex is exactly the way it should be; you get the privilege of a bit more content for ordering before it hits stores. Rather than have to buy it from multiple stores/sources you can buy it from any of them and pick what you want. If you REALLY want the extra content then buy it as a DLC sometime later on when it becomes available.

The complainers are typically ignorant of budgets/world development, way to greedy and feeling very entitled.....all because they paid $400 bucks for a gaming platform...who cares how many millions it took to produce 1 game.
