"With all that in mind, Blizzard has announced the first expansion for the game, Reaper of Souls, which might manage to fix some stuff with the game, and might even redeem the game in many fickle gamers’ eyes."

I hope you aren't insinuating that individuals who dislike the game are fickle individuals. There are plenty of reasons why gamers disliked Diablo 3; I've been a fan of the series since the beginning, and despite my initial enthusiasm and excitement, it was difficult not to have felt pretty shafted on the whole situation. The game mechanics, their limited options for skills (which were rendered worthless on Inferno difficulties, the developers promising thousands upon thousands of different builds, which never came to fruition), the music (I miss Matt Uelman) and although the orchestra piece was very beautiful... having it looped and repeated throughout the game constantly... was not. There was no "catchy" tracks like there were in the original and Diablo 2. The story definitely took me by surprise in a bad way; I read all the novels, such as the Sin Trilogy and The Order, and was very impressed with how the story delved into the past of Cain, explained his ordeal, his suffering, his cowardice etc. ...Then came Diablo 3... which had him die at the hands of a fairy who we never heard of. I was also disappointed with their decision to make Tyrael mortal, for a being that had been very iconic throughout Diablo 2.
The helpers were downright annoying... and like the art style, seemed like something to come from WoW, rather than a Diablo game. The reduction of the amount of players available to play in a game, from 8 down to 4, was a very odd decision and of course, the Real Money Auction House.
