Personal opinion here, but I'd still play Perfect Dark N64 over the last CoD (Black Ops 2) I played. Multi-player and single player
Perfect Dark ran on 1 percent of the hardware the latest CoDs do

Game design is everything.

StarCraft, Minecraft, Mario Kart.... All franchises breaking records that require dismal hardware.
Even big name titles like the original Crysis, in multi, everyone deliberately turned the graphics to minimum just so they could see enemies clearer

I see your point. But here is the big picture. Games are fine for now, and only now. Consoles don't work like cell phones, pc's/laptops, tablets. Those things get upgraded about every 6-10months nowadays.

Consoles are stuck in the same shell for 5-8yrs. Developers are always going to want more resources to give us gamers, more immersion.

Well, perhaps not. But its still a big ask. Just with games in particular, running in real-time, with such a massive dependance on minimal latency, I couldn't imagine it's a realistic idea to begin with. At least not for a good long while.
And again, I think its over kill, there's no need for extra performance. If a dev can't produce a quality awesome experience, its on them, not the hardware. U can run NFS, Knack, or Mortal Kombat in 4K rez and photographics textures at 60 FPS, they're still all gonna be average games.
The most reveared and highest selling titles around almost always run on minimal hardware

No I'm saying that any Tech company (MS, Google, Apple, FaceBook, NetFlix) that offers some kind of web enabled product that will be a benefit, they should not have to pause because of crappy ISP's the world over...

It'd be awesome if we lived in that kind of perfectly structured world, but you're trying to tell us gamers to get out there and start hammering our local ISPs and demand our Telecommunications to upgrade all our DSLAMs just because Microsoft can't depend on the XB1s processing power to deliver quality, inspiring games?

Im not familiar with the tech behind Titalfall and Forza 5, but assuming they are running off cloud processing, how many ppl still exist with limited connections (ie minimal data usage and bandwidth deals) because they can't afford it. How many more in the world have iffy connections that drop out every now and then. What happens to these games when it loses the cloud for any period of time for any reason? The game would just have no choice but to stop, or worse crash entirely , no??

Where did you read that it was LAN and not WAN? Link please. And please let it be confirmation from the companies involved and not some internet rumor publicized as fact.

What does any of your rant have to do with the Tech?
Your rant has nothing to do with Technology.

Your just ranting just to rant...

I love my PS4...
But once again... What does this have to do with the tech? Oh that's right... One has nothing to do with the other...
