I was pissed when CAPCOM simply required extra money to unlock additional costumes that were already on the disc of Street Fighter IV.
This new practice of charging extra for stuff that is already on the disc or at least should be a part of the game itself, is getting outrageous and ridiculous, and is one of the reasons I'm losing interest in video games. It's almost like selling an action figure without limbs and selling the limbs separately.

dlc could be a double edge sword, i dont mind them if they are well intentioned. but for example it seems like marvel vs capcom 3 opted on adding at least 15 more characters in the game so they can be sold as DLC later on. i think thats just greedy way of making a game.

The worst one for it has to be Little Big Planet as you can pay for costumes, level packs, level items and so on. I'm all for bringing out content to expand a game that people may have played to death and giving some content at a fair price but that is clearly not always happening. Like the recent First strike pack which clearly favours Xbox not only with it being out a month before PSN but also being up to 25% more expensive compared to the same DLC pack on the 360 (hardly fair after waiting an extra month for it).

XBOX = £8.99-9.99
PLAYSTATION = £11.49

Interesting article i would have to say purchasing a game for 60 is one thing but to keep a game a live they want to keep consumers happy. So they dish dlc people will keep coming n drop a game n forget about it after beating it. Everything cost money of course some stuff will be free and others not so but i dont mind paying for it . As for pricing sometimes they over do it other than that its jus to keep the consumere satisified.

You raise a good question because shit I'm spending 60 plus tax at gamestop which puts me at 62.09 or so lol and then what about that really cool outfit that you can play the game with, or that cool skin for kratos or whatever. I understand developers want their share of the pie for their earned hard work SPECIALLY since HACKING is becoming a HUGE problem nowadays but this is not our fault, and developers and publishers need to keeps us the consumers in mind. You do bring up a good point, that after a while the release date of the DLC in relation to the game doesn't really matter. Cost-wise, it's likely to be much more affordable as well.

Actually, those who purchased the Collector's Edition of Dragon Age: Origins only received the Shale DLC, which is the same DLC every purchaser of a new version of DAO received.

What you're describing, I believe, is the Warden's Keep DLC, which was a paid DLC ($7, I think). Levi Dryden begins the quest in the Warden's camp. The only people who got this DLC for free were the Digital Deluxe Edition customers, who were provided this DLC as well due to not getting the pretty map you described.

I bought Dragon Age: Ultimate edition in October and got Origins, Awakening and ALL the downloadable mission (plus the blood dragon armour) for only about £5 more than Origins alone was listed on Amazon. Obviously the game had been out a while by then but I was well impressed.

I am less impressed with Lionhead and Fable III - I preordered the game in October and it hasn't been released on PC yet - I gave in yesterday and emailed Lionhead to find out if it's EVER coming.
