Ya im not getting LordCancers logic. Every console in the past 18 years has benefited from update API. And by benefited I mean substantially benefited. Meaning higer res, increased draw distance, better frames, better graphics and magic all around. I know most PC gamers dont really need or care about that. Just get a new $200+ upgrade.

But figured this was common knowledge since the days of PS1. I mean Xbox 360 was released in 2003 and ran Oblivion and then Skyrim at 30fps and it looked gorgeous. With zero hardware upgrades. This is just one of 100s of examples, and this is perhaps the worst example. Battlefield and Mass Effect franchise just got more and more amazing while still on the same exact hardware consoles from years prior. Still puzzles me how PC fanboys miss out on how API updates do a world of wonder.

Other than what a programmer just said about how DX12 should help eSRAM just now, there has got to be a reason why MS is pushing products with eSRAM while DX12 on the horizon. They should be some strategy there. If not thats a shame.

Its easy to optimize software when you know exactly what to code for and your team designed the hardware. Also apple isnt out performing anyone anymore. the tegra cpu in the N( as well as samsungs Exynos 7420 both beat out apple and their chips. even with the optimizations apple did.

Ps4 graphics hardware is more powerful than xb1's, but that doesn't imply that ps4 performance or resolution is better only because of hardware diffference. If that was the case we wouldn't see games like RE Revelations 2 performing better on XB1. So, as always, it's up to the developers. A better API may indeed improve performance and resolution on XB1 despite the static hardware, as it will make it easier to developers to make optimal use of xb1 resources. Personally I don't think developers have been making the best use of Xb1 hardware till date, because they hadn't the best tools in hand to do that.
