EA will stop selling EA Sports Season Ticket in March 2015

EA Access replacing it.

EA has announced that it will stop selling the EA Sports Season Ticket starting March 2015; the Season Ticket program was essentially sort of like a precursor to EA Access- it granted early access to a range of games, as well as Ultimate Team packs and DLC discounts, for a one time fee of £19.99. However, EA has announced that this year will be the last time that they will be offering the program, as starting next year, EA Access will be phased in to essentially offer the same benefits.

“We’re constantly looking at the benefits we provide to our players and ensuring that they are valuable and beneficial to as many players as possible,” EA said, talking about the decision.

“As more and more of our fans move to the new generation of consoles, we felt the time was right to start the process of concluding Season Ticket for the Xbox 360 and PS3.”

Of course, what they didn’t say was that by terminating an existing, popular program, and then by moving the benefits offered by that program to a new one, they were essentially forcing their existing customers to migrate to their new program by holding their expected features hostage.

*sigh*

Oh, EA.
