Eidos Founder and Life President Ian Livingstone Awarded CBE

Commended for one in 2006, this makes two in Livingstone's court.

New Year’s has been quite the same for some and quite exciting for others, but for Eidos founder Sir Ian Livingstone, the days before 2013 are some of his proudest: It’s just been announced that Livingstone has been awarded a CBE in the New Year Honours list. Livingstone tweeted about the same on December 29th, which happened on his 63rd birthday.

Livingstone told the BBC: “I’m genuinely humbled to get something. My life has been all about games, and I think we learn an awful lot through play.

“Writing Fighting Fantasy books with Steve Jackson in the 1980s seemed to have got a whole generation of children reading again. And I’m delighted that what we created not just manifested itself in interactive books but it’s actually inspired people to join the computer games industry.”

Though Livingstone is acting more as an activist for better computers in UK schools – while serving as the PM’s golden boy of the digital realm – he still has a strong role over at Eidos.
