I was graced with the honor of joining their beta weekend recently, I can only say so much because of legalities. But it’s fun, more fun than other MMO’s I’ve played. But ESO isn’t single player ES, and yes the pay thing is a drag. I won’t be able to participate in paying for their service, I prefer single player ES more.
