Good review, echoed a lot of my feelings. I recently reviewed the game and found it to be an exercise in repetition and frustration.

I even felt compelled to write tips to help new players, which isn't a great indicator of how intuitive it is. The tutorials only cover a little bit of basic flight, nothing else about the games mechanics, and when in the game proper it makes no attempt to help - a very odd decision, especially given they need players to stick around and buy expansions if they want to survive. If you're interested, here are my newbie tips, compiled after a week or two playing: http://www.someonewhotried.com/game-guides/avoiding-frustration-elite-dangerous-tips-new-player/

For me, it's now a game I'll play only occasionally - probably when I'm watching TV, as I can run trade routes without thinking, plus there is no monthly subscription.
