After announcing that Etrian Odyssey would be arriving on the Nintendo 3DS in the form of a remake titled Etrian Odyssey: Millennium Girl, Atlus has launched a new teaser site for the same. It can be viewed here.
As of now, there’s nothing as such to see on the site. Except of course the lines, “When calamity covers the city of Etria and the people cry in deep despair, a maiden crosses over a millennium and restores hope.”
The original Etrian Odyssey was developed by Atlus and Lancarse for the Nintendo DS – which makes the decision for a remake weirder – and is a dungeon crawling RPG. In a vein similar to old-school role playing games like Wizardry and The Bard’s Tale, the game requires you to maintain your own personal map while exploring dungeons.
This map can be created and maintained using the DS’s touchscreen and stylus, but you can use a limited set of symbols for mapping your way through. Stay tuned for more on a US/EU release date for the 3DS remake.
