Nintendo has announced that Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion Pass users will receive F-Zero Maximum Velocity on March 29th. Released in 2001 for the Game Boy Advance, it received exceptional critical acclaim. Check out the trailer below to see how it runs.
Set a quarter century after the first game, Maximum Velocity features many of the same tenets as other F-Zero titles, with players competing against other racers in high-speed races. Each lap provides a speed boost to use whenever, but one must be careful to avoid bumping into the track or others and taking too much damage.
The Game Boy Advance version features Grand Prix mode with four series – Pawn, Knight, Bishop and Queen – each with five races and four difficulty options. Of course, there’s also a higher difficulty, Master, for those who complete each series on Expert.
Other modes include Championship, Time Attack and multiplayer, though Nintendo hasn’t confirmed if the Switch version supports online play. Stay tuned for more details when it goes live.
