Whats the problem? Will it stop me buying it? Nope.
Can a steam game disc be lost? Nope because there isn't one.
I see buying a game and it being linked to me steam account as a bonus as I know no matter what I will be able to reinstall the game whenever I need to without searching for a disc that could have been lost or damaged.

"The console versions won’t have this problem..."

What problem?

Anyone who doesn't have steam at this point is missing out on tons of great deals and an easy way to keep track of hundreds of games without cluttering up your home with CD's and DVD's.

To describe getting steam as "a problem" is like saying "I hate having a personal assistant who organizes and keeps track of my things while helping me to find great deals."

Oh, the humanity!
