Tired of the classic JRPG. I know a lot of people will disagree with me on that, but I’m in the camp that FF needs to evolve with better gameplay and open worlds.

FF8 doesn’t have enjoyable game play? That one has the best to me. The draw and junction system need a resurrection.

I liked the gameplay of FF13, and I loved Lightning as a character but it was overall a big disappointment for all the hype it received. Like you I never played the rest, but I liked what I saw with the gameplay improvements. It’s the storytelling that has taken a drastic fall imo. Even though even FF8 has it’s faults in the story, the romance, the characters, the events that transpired between them, the music, and the overall world have been something I’ve never forgotten. That’s something I’ll never say about FF13 (minus the music which was good). Heck the gameplay in FF13 is 10x better than FF8’s but yet it’s not even half as good a game.

i really enjoyed ff13 at the time it came out, didnt get into 13-2 and 13-3, not cause i didnt like the 13s but just cause i didnt personally find the world/story appealing to me, but i really really liked 13. as far as im concerned for this franchise.. ff10 awesome, ff12 awesome, ff13 great, ff15 insanely mindblowing/awesome, everything else before was awesome as well

I hear ya. I’m really hoping this title brings Final Fantasy back. The past few titles have been painful for a franchise I grew up loving to death.

Honestly I hope they stop here for a while and do remakes of the old ones. I SOOOOO want me some next-gen Rinoa Heartilly. Maybe in the next Dissidia, but if they remake a FF8 (or yeah FF7), with enjoyable gameplay like Dissidia, then I could die happy. Of course they need to fix some things and I don’t have much faith in this company anymore so there’s that, but assuming they could do it justice then I will die happy.

at the rate this is going, in 10 years, they will announce ff17. but it wont be done for another 12 years. i would say by the time the year 2200 rolls around they will announce ff25.
