Thanks :) that is right indeed. Yeah, Nintendo caught up pretty quick actually in that short amount of time while it took Sony and Microsoft a few years to get their act together. I think in that respect, Nintendo spared them as if they had gone HD I think they would've won either way except push MS and Sony out of the spotlight completely. Quality over quantity indeed. I didn't know that about Nintendo hiring devs...interesting. I'm guessing it has to do with Nintendo only hiring the best and never firing them over mistakes that aren't their fault, which is why Iwata took full responsibility to keep up the integrity of the company and not make them lose hope over a bunch of numbers. Nintendo has always been about the fun, not the sales, and that isn't gonna change. would be interesting if Fumito Ueda, currently working on The Last Guardian with Sony, went to work for Nintendo after he's done with it and they create a cool new IP or revolutionize one Nintendo already has under his supervision.

I believe everything you just wrote to be true. Nintendo is wise. Like any good business anywhere in the world they know they have something everyone else doesn't and they also know how to walk their own path. The figure heads maybe older, but Nintendo's true talent is in their ability to recruit new blood into their ranks. From the time Wii U released till Pikmin 3 hit the shelves they had practically caught up on years of HD development. Full of quality. Thanks in small part to wizards like Monolith Soft etc...
But as a dev, in Japan I hear, getting a job in Nintendo is a pretty high achievement. So they say...

Yeah, you're right. In fact, Yoshida, and Phil Spencer actually, are the only ones that have really said anything positive about Nintendo as of late. Seems just like the younger generation may discriminate against the elderly at times, the younger generation of gamers is discriminating against Nintendo because they think they don't know anything since they started out in a different generation and have been around longer, kind of like the elderly seeing the world change in a way the younger generation hasn't. Ironic how US is supposedly the most conservative country in the world yet it's the most vocal when it comes to the industry, if that's accurate. Nintendo don't deserve the hate whatsoever. It's amazing how Nintendo stays strong and fights until the end, even when others have given up on them. It relates to the elderly/younger people part. Nintendo are wise from their experience but the younger generation doesn't understand their decisions since they don't have their experience therefore they judge it thinking that since they're not going with the flow, then they're committing suicide or something. Nintendo never speaks ill will ever, indeed-they are good sports.Yeah, I suppose you're right about that. People get so tied to one company they begin to believe every decision they make is right and then see another company break to trend and try to bring them down. Nintendo is the exception because they know this industry better than everyone else. Everything happens for a reason, and will take everyone else to realize that. I think 2014 is the year of Nintendo. they will shine at E3 2014 and show the haters who's boss and why they still rule. It's sad how with every generation we become stubborn and seem to never learn from our mistakes quick enough to recover in most cases. Hence why industry leaders such as Nintendo who don't follow a set pattern when it comes to innovation are still around, even if the way they show that innovation remains similar but done a unique way each time.

I think they already have. Yoshida openly says he has two Wii U's at home. That's a pretty positive meme...
They then publicly state Nintendo is a force in the video game industry. Genuine sentiments or not it's still gravy to perception. And sure beats all that anti Nintendo garbage coming out of the US right now. Right?
It seems there really is a Ninty witch hunt going on. Media, Analysts, Publishers, MS all slamming Wii U, Nintendo or their financial status. And all for nothing...
All the while Nintendo stays humble. Whens the last time we heard them say something/ anything derogatory towards any other player in the industry?
I guess it's hard not to support a dev though on your guys home turf yeah?
