MS has some cleaver software engineers,it's full on emulation much in the same way Sony did with the Ps3,after they dropped the EEngine they released a Ps3 that used emulation, until they dropped ps2 support all together.

The fact is Sony shot themselves in the foot with Cell. You would had to re engineer every piece of code to work with that x86 cpu and run those Spu tasks on the gpu. That just won't happen i personally don't mind buying upgraded versions of TLOU/GOW 3/Uncharted.With emulation you may get a slight bump in visuals but nothing like a full on port. That said it's a nice feature for those who want to play their own games.I also don't mind these remasters,if i can play GOW3 at 60fps1080p i am happy.

They did it through emulation right? You cant do it w/o the right chip-sets. I would look into FPGA, Field-programmable gate array. In short chip sets that can be reprogrammed to do what you desire them to do.

I think I read once that MSFT use these same chips to run their servers.
