GoldenEye 007 is Back in the Golden Spotlight, as Xbox Achievements Listing Hints at a New Port

A listing of Xbox Achievements for the shooter recently surfaced online, sparking speculation of a port potentially coming soon.

It seems the discussions of a port of the classic Nintendo 64 shooter GoldenEye 007 are once again back in talks among the gaming community, as TrueAchievements has posted achievements for the original Goldeneye 007, a game which does not exist on Xbox platforms as of now, sparking speculation of a possible port.

First posted and pointed out by Twitter user Wario64, the site showcases all the possible achievements which can be won while playing the game. The achievements are based on finishing the game on any difficulty and doing certain tasks on various difficulties, which is all pretty standard.

This is a very interesting development, of course, as the game has never left the Nintendo 64 platform, mostly because of licensing issues between the original developer Rare, publisher Nintendo, and MGM. This listing might suggest that the licensing issue has been sorted, but since the original game was exclusively on Nintendo 64, it will be interesting to see if the game will be a multiplatform release, given the Xbox Achievements listing hints at an Xbox release only.

The closest we’ve seen of a possible port for GoldenEye 007 was leaked gameplay of a canceled Xbox Live port of the game, which was scrapped early on, being posted on user Graslu00’s YouTube channel (you can check that out below). Only time will tell if this Achievements listing holds true, as the achievement points that both the single-player and multiplayer portion of the game is being retained.
