The one thing that is always the case with Nintendo consoles is the poor third party support- this came to a head with the Wii U, which had next to none of it, and which saw a mass exodus of third parties, a lot of whom were openly contemptuous or indifferent towards the system. These included Bethesda, EA, DICE, Epic, and of course, GTA publisher Take Two.
Which is why it has been so heartening to see them all be so positive on the upcoming Switch- it gives me great hope for the future of the system. For instance, take GTA, Red Dead, XCOM, Civilization, WWE 2K, and NBA 2K Take-Two President Karl Slatoff’s remarks on the system at the 20th Annual Credit Suisse Technology, Media & Telecom Conference (via GoNintendo), where he said that they are very optimistic about the system, and noted Nintendo’s willingness to work with third parties this time around (a marked change from their attitude before).
“The folks at Nintendo are making a great effort to support third-party developers, we’re very optimistic on the Switch though we are not announcing anything specific today,” he said.
If there are any games for the Switch coming from Take Two, we will probably learn about them on the January 12 event. The Switch itself is due for a March 2017 worldwide launch.
