In Alan Wake all of the trees, grass, clouds and sounds are alive, it's just looking WAY better when you playing than watching screenshots.. this game is freaking amazing anyway :) every fan of Stephen King should play this game.

Heavy Rain is just a movie that has some bit of controlling, like you do in Resident Evil cutscenes where you have to push some buttons to runaway from obstacles, AI is not really needed, you just have to decide which move to do. I think programming it is not as hard as the other games because it's not open world. You can't even adjust the camera angle, It's like old resident evil 1,2,3. they just had to make the environment as much detailed as possible. I'm not impressed with heavy rain, it's like playing resident evil cutscenes on a different genre. The concept is pretty cool though.

XBOX hardware can definitely do that.
PC can definitely handle it. But it's not released for it.
It's Sony funded.

But I'm buying both of them.

Its like comparing gta to monkey island.

Alan Wake has a open enviroment like silent hill. Heavy rain is a plot driven adventure game with stages or scenes wich you vist one by one. Even the exterior is just such (small)stage you vist.
So the develophers could just put more detail on things in these stages.
Alan wake on the other hand has a openworld! So they had to put much more work in everything. Even in places you proabably never going to vist or see.

So comparing these two games is just stupid.

Those Alan Wake screenshots are from the PC version that was discontinued. The 360 version looks even more like ass. Overrated junk that should have been vaporware.

Lets look at this from a open minded standpoint both games look fantastic & I see tehy eill end up selling Millions on their repesctive systems. I want Heavy Rain & Aln Wake. However when it comes to preference of console PS3 or 360. My preference is PS3. I have a 360 as well but I feel that XBOX is just not for me.

I would say heavy rain clearly has prettier character models, and may even be a prettier game considering the ps3s hardware advantage.
but indigo prophecy (the first game from the makers of heavy rain), while having an interesting story, just wasnt too exciting to play. heavy rain looks a little to similar.
