This work a treat, undo one screw, it would not go into safe mode without the HD, but once turned off and re-connected it booted into safe mode.

Sounds like it might be a software issue, the fact that the reinstallation of the OS fixes it…. if it were an actual hardware failure then I can’t see why that would miraculously fix it. Might well be patchable…

The user try all of that minus the HDD format, so he’s only hope is that to format the damn thing, if not off to Sony delivery then, still this freaking sucks it looks like is not an isolated problem I think this is going to happen alot when the console launches tomorrow. I have preorder my PS4 but after watching that I will have to wait a few days and see how it behaves. Don’t wanna have a 400 dlls brick then send it to Sony. Thinking a lot of skipping the PS4 until next year until everything settles. :/
