Seriously? A controller with an in-built, and reasonably sizeable, backlit screen and you expect the battery to last as long as the pro controller? Riiiiiight.

7-9 hours is perfectly reasonable. A bit longer would be nice and this new battery should ABSOLUTELY come as standard over the woefully poor original battery, but 7-9 hours is fine considering the in-built screen.
