In reply to Jorge Chávez Colmenares. Yes, however, at least 50% of the game needs to be downloaded. So for me BF4 will be playable after 45 minutes. And the game has to support "Play as you download" to be able to actually do it...

So it’s going to take an hour and a half to download BF4 for me.

But you have to take into account that:

Internet connections are never a constant strength.
Launch dates download speeds are going to be an all time low, for AAA titles
You can start playing the game after 50% of the game has been downloaded, if the game supports it…

I usually get around 60 down and 30-40 up with optimum boost here in NY and curret gen games like infamous 2 and arkham have taken a good 45 mins or so, maybe a bit more. So i would hope that between the play as you download features and quicker systems, that I can be playing ps4/xone titles within a couple hours. we shall see

I have never in my life obtained my maximum rated download speed for any length of time because of throttling. If not my ISP then the place I was downloading from throttled to give others a chance. Then there are the vagaries of the Internet of the connections between where you’re downloading from and going to – which I assume in this case is your X-Box. I downloaded Star Trek Online, which is around 12.1 gigabytes and it took me over 5 hours. I doubt the digital future Microsoft wants is actually here yet. One of the many reasons besides the huge outcry about that always-on connection for why they changed there policies. I think it actually gave the executives an excuse to the shareholders to say “this is why we can’t enact our vision of total global domination…yet”.
