ICO and Shadow of the Colossus Producer “Retires” from SCE

For now, Kenji Kaido is looking forward to a relaxing summe vacation.

Any news related to Team ICO these days is bound to make people jittery. After all, The Last Guardian has been delayed for so long, that it feels like the smallest little departure could derail the entire development process.

This is not one of those departures.

Kenji Kaido worked for the SCE as a producer on both ICO and Shadow of the Colossus, and has recently announced his departure from SCE on Twitter.

The tweet in question reads, “Reported. I retired from the SCE in this August. Plans for the future is still undecided, while I’m going to continue to summer vacation.”

Motives are unclear as to now, but maybe it was just a case of wanting to finally take some time off. If AAA game development teaches you anything, it’s that the next few years of your life are essentially forfeit.

Whatever be the case here, we wish Kenji Kaido all the best in his future endeavours.
