The inFamous games have always been known for their branching morality systems, where what you do impacts the game world and the story, with branching endings in each game (the endings in inFamous 2, in particular, being memorable). So naturally, the expectation from inFamous: Second Son, the third entry in the franchise, which will debut on PlayStation 4 in February, is that it will have a great morality system too.
Says Sucker Punch’s Nate Fox, “Delsin is an all new character, part of an all-new story and the player gets in at ground zero. Second Son is Delsin’s origin story and because our game lets you choose if you want to be good or evil, you get to decide how he grows as a person and how the people around him are changed by his choices”
After this assurance, he goes into detail about just how the morality system will work. There won’t be any more big scale yes/no choices. Those have been de-emphasized, and instead, what we will get is smaller scale decisions that add to your overall alignment. But Fox says that the difference between this game and other games with morality is how it will make sure the player has to live with the consequences of his morality. “The harder thing to do is, are you capable of walking the walk? And that’s where the game comes alive in terms of karma in my mind,” he signed off.
