It Takes Two Will be 14-15 Hours Long

A much beefier adventure than A Way Out, it seems.

Hazelight Studios have comfortably settled into their groove as developers of narrative-focused co-op games. After the success of A Way Out, they’re now looking to ramp things up with the upcoming It Takes Two, and it looks like it’s going to be a much beefier adventure that Hazelight’s debut title.

Speaking to GamingBolt in a recent interview, Josef Fares – head of Hazelight and director of It Takes Two and A Way Out – said that the upcoming co-op adventure is going to be roughly 14-15 hours long. Though there are going to be no collectibles, fans can expect a lot of variety in minigames- and variety is something that the game seems to be putting lot of emphasis on.

“I would say between 14-15 hours,” Fares said when asked about the game’s length. “There’s a lot to discover. No collectibles and s**t. That’s not something we want. So instead of you go around, you can interact with stuff. You will have lots of minigames, like 25 minigames spread out in the world they can play around, side content and s**t. We want the world to be alive, so you’ll have a lot of fun discovering that weird s**t. There’s a lot of secrets as well, I hope people find them. They’re going to love it.”

A Way Out was a game that took roughly 6-8 hours to finish, so it definitely seems like Hazelight are crafting a much meatier adventure with their second game. If they can keep up the level of variety that they’re promising for that entire runtime, players are probably going to be pleased with what’s on offer.

It Takes Two launches on March 26 for the PS5, Xbox Series X/S, PS4, Xbox One, and PC, though Fares says a Nintendo Switch review is looking unlikely.

In the same interview, Fares also spoke to us about his perspective on the new consoles, and what he thinks of the different strategies of Microsoft and Sony heading into the new generation of hardware.

Our full interview with Fares will be going live soon, so stay tuned for that.
