Nintendo president Satoru Iwata isn’t going anywhere any time soon, although it’s been reported that Nintendo will be missing its financial forecast for the year thank to the poor performance of the Wii U.
According to Yahoo News, Iwata has spoke to press members and indicated that “There will be no major management shake-up in the short term.” That doesn’t mean he doesn’t feel responsible for some of the mess that Nintendo is in. In translated report from Nikkei (courtesy of NeoGAF), Iwata had to apologize to shareholders and is looking for ways to turn operations around.
Considering the lack of third party titles, months long wait for first person titles and substantial lack of marketing, it will be interesting to see how Nintendo aims to achieve that. Its 3DS handheld is still raking in the dough so the company won’t be sinking any time soon. But Nintendo has to make something work quick for the Wii U if it wants the platform to continue.
