JoyCon Controller Details: Amiibo, Screenshots, Video, Gyroscope, Colors, HD Rumble Detailed

The Switch controllers bring back an emphasis on motion controls.

It turned out Nintendo were hiding some features for the Nintendo Switch Joycons after all- today in the Switch conference, they spent an excruciating amount of time going through each feature the Joycon has, in a far too cringe inducing manner.

You can check out the full list below- but it seems as though the controllers are actually pretty versatile. They have a lot of features that should give them the same kind of casual appeal as the Wii Remotes, they have power user features, they enable immediate local multiplayer, and it looks like they are debuting at least a few new technologies.

That, plus they look cool. Pity they are so small. The Nintendo Switch launches on March 3 worldwide, for $300.

  • The Joycons have an NFC reader; this allows Amiibo data to be read
  • The Joycons have a share button. This will let you take screencaps and video captures
  • The Joycons include an accelerometer and gyroscope
  • The Joycons include a new vibration technology called HD Rumble, with varying amounts of haptic feedback
  • The Joycons feature full fledged controls even when split up
  • The Joycons include a depth sensing camera
  • The Joycons are also available in Neon Red and Blue colors
