In reply to <a href="https://gamingbolt.com/killzone-hd-review#comment-179263">Meisadragon</a>.

Do you feel that other PS2 HD games were different? I love the HD collections that have come out, be it the God of War, Sly Cooper, Ratchet and Clank, Jak and Daxter, Tomb Raider, etc etc and every single one of them seemed to the the exact same thing that Killzone HD has done. They've all been upresed and "basically getting the same game as the PS2 version with a little bit of enhancements here and there." IMO. I don't see how this title is any different... and if you had purchased Killzone HD in the pack with KZ2 and KZ3, it matches pricing schemes with those above mentioned titles.

I think you're caught up on the fact that this title isn't a full blown remake and thus it hurts the game.

Oh yeah, I meant “inexperienced” there. Thanks for pointing it out.

You know, I probably should have played the PS2 version, but I did honestly mention it in the review. The problem is, I found it to be a real chore to power through this game for some reason. I think when you start analyzing things closely, even little ones tend to stand out more.

There’s also a certain level of quality to be expected from Guerrilla Games. Now yes, there’s a price difference between this and Halo Anniversary, but at least that game was treated with respect by Microsoft. I would have gladly paid $40 for this, but the level of quality for the price asked ($15) is too low. I mean, apart from the trophies I felt like you are basically getting the same game as the PS2 version with a little bit of enhancements here and there.

In reply to <a href="https://gamingbolt.com/killzone-hd-review#comment-179208">Meisadragon</a>.

"I am sort of glad I didn’t play the game on the PS2." - I think is where the problem starts.

This is an established game. It was never announced as a full blown remake (which Halo Anniversary more or less is, as they've built almost everything from the ground up) and shouldn't be compared as such in a review. Rather than looking at it for what it is (an up-resed version of a PS2 game, much like a lot of the PS2-PS3 collection games are, yes even God of War) you're comparing it to remakes (Halo Anni) and Sequels (killzone 2) that have been built around much more powerful hardware, rather than simply ported with a coat of HD paint.

Which has me still disagreeing.

Also, I found your comment about the game being developed by 'very experienced developers" kind of strange. Do you mean the port was handled by said group or do you mean the team behind the original 2004, PS2 game? If you mean the PS2 game... it was literally their 2nd released title as a developer, a month after their first game, 'Shellshock Nam67' came out. Also, at that point, they weren't owned by Sony.

//Just my 2cents. I'm aware that each review is personal and thus you don't need to answer to any reader, but I just want to give you something to chew on and challenge your thinking.

I know what you mean, Hush. But the thing is, after playing Killzone 2 for 500 + hours, this just didn't click with me.

I expected a higher level of quality from Guerrilla Games.

Wow... I disagree. Killzone wasn't the best game around, but 4.5 is a tad crazy. I'm having a blast going through it and only have issue with the brain-dead A.I.
