It looks like Nintendo’s pink puffball mascot met a warmer reception in the UK with his newest outing than ever. Kirby Star Allies launched on the Nintendo Switch last Friday, on March 16, and went on to become the fastest selling Kirby game of all time in the UK, beating out the records set by Kirby Triple Deluxe and Kirby Planet Robobot, both of which were on the 3DS.
Kirby managed to do well for itself by becoming the second highest selling game of the week in the UK (it lost out to Burnout Paradise Remastered), which is, again, the highest debut for the series in its 19 year history. It makes sense, too- though the Switch is not the kind of explosive success in the UK that it is in the rest of the world, it is still a slow and steady success, so its tentpole games have a resultantly increased profile as well.
Kirby: Triple Deluxe is available now exclusively on the Nintendo Switch.
