Konami was one of the few companies, surprisingly enough, who was present at the launch of the Switch with a proper game ready to go- Super Bomberman R. The game went on to become a success for Konami, especially as Konami demonstrated that it plans to support the game with proper updates and content going forward.
However, it looks like the publisher’s support for Nintendo’s platform may not just end there. Speaking to miketendo64.com, Konami’s European Brand Manager Richard Jones discussed future support for Nintendo’s hybrid console.
“All I can say is that there is lots of internal discussions going on within Konami regarding what games we can bring to the Nintendo Switch,” he aid. “Other than Bomberman, a game which we are well aware of its heritage and how loved it and Castlevania is. So much so that Castlevania is getting is getting its own show on Netflix and because of that, we’re hearing a lot of desires from our fans for a new Castlevania series. So we do know there is a demand for a new game, but right now nothing is set in stone as the discussions are still on going.”
A new proper Castlevania game on the Switch by Konami could be incredible. And why stop there? A new Contra or a new Silent Hill would be well appreciated too. With the Switch being cheaper to develop for than other systems, the famously stingy Konami now actually has a platform they can support with games- so why not go all in? I hope we see them do just that.
