Macronix Confirms It’s Supplying Nintendo Memory Products For NX

"Macronix has considerable expectations for NX."

As the calendar has turned to 2016, people inside and outside the video game industry are getting antsy waiting for any information at all about the upcoming Nintendo console which has been given the code name the NX. While Nintendo has been willing to speak a bit more about the device, we’re still getting most of our “news” through whispered rumors, or through companies and analysts voicing what they hope the NX will bring.

That’s why the news that a company is able to confirm their involvement with the NX, no matter how small that involvement might be is raising eyebrows. Macronix is the firm that has gotten some serious attention this week with the announcement that the firm will be providing some “memory products” to the console. The news came in the form of an earnings call with the firm’s president Dr. CY Lu. While most of the reports about this call are in Japanese, one Neogaf user was able to get ahold of the translation.

The report showsMacronix will “supply memory slots for NX, and that the company has considerable expectations for the NX.” Just what those expectations might be is anybody’s guess but at least we have confirmation that the console truly is taking shape. That’s more info than we’ve had for quite a while, especially when talking about anything that could be considered remotely concrete. Nintendo has previously said more information will be forthcoming this year and it appears that the information is indeed starting to come more regularly.
