Mario Kart 8 will be out next week for the Wii but it’s already been garnering rave reviews beforehand. Will it help the Wii U out of its sales rut though? Nintendo UK’s Mario brand manager Roger Langford believes so.
Speaking to MCV, Langford stated that, “Mario Kart 8 really harnesses the capability of Wii U. It has HD graphics and runs at 60 frames per second constantly in single and multiplayer.
“I certainly feel that Mario Kart 8 can be the catalyst that will broaden Wii U’s horizons. It’s very important for us that we have a successful launch and continue the promotion throughout the year and beyond.”
Considering that Wii U lifetime sales are roughly 6.17 million units, it’ll be interesting just to see how Mario Kart 8 fares. If it fails, it could be an omen for other big Wii U exclusives due later. Mario Kart 8 is out on May 30th in North America and Europe.
