Nintendo promised recently that they will be continuing to release more updates for Mario Kart 8 Deluxe, the Nintendo Switch remaster of the Wii U game that launched last year, and has gone on to outsell the original one since.
Just a few weeks later, they have followed through on their word, with a brand new free update released for the game, that adds Champion Link (i.e. the Link from Breath of the Wild), along with his motorbike, the Master Cycle Zero, and the Ancient Tires and Paraglider kart parts.
The best part is, this update is absolutely free, and should in fact have downloaded to your Switch already, assuming you have the game installed, and Sleep Mode downloads enabled. If not, or if it hasn’t for whatever reason, then just initiate the download yourself from the Switch main menu, by selecting “Update Software” for Mario Kart 8.
Going forward, I wonder if further Mario Kart 8 Deluxe updates will be similar, smaller free content drops, or if Nintendo might be planning more paid DLC with new tracks in the future. Mario Kart 8 Deluxe is out now and available exclusively on the Nintendo Switch.
