We already reported on how Mario Kart 8 Deluxe topped sales charts in the UK for the second week straight, fending off competition from Prey; however, it seems like its success goes beyond just that. According to Gfk-Tracker, it sounds like Mario Kart 8 Deluxe was the highest selling game for all of April in the UK.
Considering that it launched on April 28 (meaning only three days of sales were tracked), as a Switch exclusive (which has a fraction of the userbase that the PS4 and Xbox One have in the UK), this number is flat out incredible, and speaks more to the title’s relentless success.
In other news, the fantastic Persona 5 ended up in seventh place in the chart. For a game in what was until recently a highly niche turn based JRPG series, that is fantastic, and it speaks to the continued growth of the franchise.
Mario Kart 8 Deluxe is out exclusively on the Nintendo Switch. Check out our review of the game here.
