Game companys doesn´t create mascots, we the players do, nintendo never tought that the jumping character from donkey kong will become their "mascot" neither MS with halo, we are te ones who fall in love with a particular character thats how crash, spyro, ratchet etc became so popular, sony tends not to attach to much to a character each gen had like their own popular character

It’s not and admission by Cerny that somehow Knack isn’t worthy of being a system mascot, It’s simply a different era. Gone are the days of a cute/kiddie character being a console’s mascot – other than on Nintendo systems of course.

Those aren’t mascots, those are game characters. A mascot is a singular character directly identifiable with the console.
PlayStation has none, not since Crash Bandicoot. Perhaps Sackboy, but the numbers don’t support it.
Nintendo is Mario. duh
Xbox is Halo fps dudebro. Maybe even CoD.

It is an interesting admission that Mark doesn’t think Knack has what it takes to be a PS4 mascot, but I disagree that we have evolved beyond having them.
