It is going to be extremely difficult for SONY to build out a very large cloud presence. They just do not have the money to do so. That is why they are basically sticking to the PS3 internet package they already have in place with perhaps more servers as the plus package sales allow them to buy. SONY is losing a lot of money on the PS4 so far (fortunately not as bad as the PS3) and will continue to do so for at least a year according to SONY. Tough to add to that debt load by building up their internet assets.

Perhaps Gaikai can help but I expect those resources to be used mostly for streaming TV.

Cloud should remain a remote storage system, until at least 2020.
What is magical and fantastic about consoles is the fact everybody can have exactly the same experience, while gaming. Unlike computers, where the most fortunate ones can buy nice video cards and fast CPU and memory, thus experiencing games with much better visuals than those who can't or don't want to spend money upgrading their system, console gamers can be sure they all will have the same visuals, whether they're great, average or bad.

Building a system where people with fast internet connections will benefit from better graphics or a better game, while the others with a slow connection, or with no connection at all will only get half the experience, isn't a good idea.
How would people feel, when buying a game,if the box says ' in order to get amazing visuals, great sound an AI, please make sure you have a 50 mb internet connection , otherwise, the graphics may look blurred and compressed'.

That would be the end of the consoles,as we know them.
