Marvel Ultimate Alliance 3: The Black Order’s DLC Packs Won’t Be Sold Individually

You HAVE to purchase the entire season pass.

Marvel Ultimate Alliance 3: The Black Order is already promising to have a massive roster of characters pulled in from all corners of the Marvel universe to keep both, new and old fans of their properties happy alike. But the game is also saving some pretty good stuff for its post-launch DLC. Characters from franchises such as X-Men, Fantastic Four, and Marvel Knight are set to be added to the game as post-release content, not to mention additional story content.

All three of these will, of course, be sold as part of an Expansion Pack. If, however, you only had interest in one or two of those and didn’t want to dive in for the entire Expansion Pass- well, you can’t do that. As per information on the game’s official website, neither of these DLC packs will be sold individually- so if you want one, you buy them all, for a price of $20.

It’s kind of a weird decision- if they’re not going to be sold separately, why even categorize them as separate DLC packs? Why even have an expansion pass? Why not just sell one single piece of DLC with all the content- just to be able to stagger its release across three timeframes? In that case, why force this decision on consumers? But then again, Nintendo is no stranger to weird decisions.

Marvel Ultimate Alliance 3: The Black Order is out on the Switch on July 19.
