Why do trophies and achievements even matter to begin with? Why can't we just play a game for the fun of it-isn't that the reward in itself? Isn't that tangible enough so that gamers don't need digitized versions of real objects or ideals to feel like they're reaping the benefits of playing the game? I quite don't understand it-in this respect I value Nintendo's decision for not going with achievements. Anyway, I can't wait to play this and really can care less what trophy I get since you get no benefits from it. The only novel use I've seen so far with it is Sucker Punch using the amount of trophies people got between the good and bad ending of Infamous 2, with good being prevalent, to influence the direction of Infamous:Second Son and now have however many trophies players get for either good or bad or whatever agenda they have in mind to dictate where the series goes after Second Son. If more devs could do stuff like THAT, instead of just putting in trophies to make the player feel like a badass or make casual gamers feel significant if they get a trophy for dying so many times in a game, THEN I'll reconsider my stance on any form of achievements. I also like how Nintendo used a achievement-esque system in Nintendo Land to unlock more stuff and how the world came more life as more stuff was added to the theme park. Otherwise, achievements are just a waste of memory that can be used to be making games better than they would be with achievements of any kind taking up precious space and resources. When I make video games, I'm never putting in any achievements, unless it has a practical use like the examples I described above. That's my two cents.
