Metro 2033 film rights acquired by MGM

Going underground.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, MGM has acquired the film rights for Russian sci-fi novel Metro 2033, from which the eponymous game is derived.

With F. Scott Frazier set to write and Chronicles of Narnia producer Mark Johnson set to produce via his Gran Via Productions company, let’s hope Metro 2033 befalls a better fate then recently attempts at video game adaptation, most of which have fallen apart during the pre-production stages.

A quick glance tells us that F. Scott Frazier is no stranger to video games, LinkedIn revealing Mr. Frazier had worked at THQ for 8 years starting as a QA tester and slowly making his way to Associate Creative Manager. His writing credits aren’t as apparent, having written one a single script entitled The Numbers Station, set to star John Cusack.
