Rumours of Metroid Prime remasters have been around for few years at this point, but a recent report suggested something different, claiming that Nintendo and Retro Studios were currently working on an individual remaster of the first Metroid Prime, rather than the entire remastered trilogy being packaged together, as has been suggested in countless rumours.
Speaking in a recent SpawnWave video, known insider NateDrake commented on the topic and corroborated the leak. He claims that a Metroid Prime 1 remaster has been in the works since 2018 and is “a very ambitious project”, which means you should expect it to be more than a simple upres. The insider suggests that while content-wise it will stick to the original, from a visuals standpoint, significant upgrades will be made.
Allegedly, the game is due out some time in 2022, with NateDrake suggesting that it could be revealed anywhere between The Game Awards this December and E3 next June, depending on when Nintendo plans on releasing it.
Of course, we’ve had more than a few rumours related to Metroid Prime that haven’t materialized, so it’s best to take this with a grain of salt for now. Stay tuned though, and we’ll keep you updated on any new details that come our way.
