Metroid Prime 4 is arguably the most anticipated upcoming Nintendo Switch game at the moment. The first entry in the legendary franchise in over a decade, it was announced at E3 last year to rapturous joy, but we never got to see more of it since. There have been very few updates on it, which is of course enough to make many worried about how the game is coming along.
Apparently, it’s coming along just fine. Speaking to Mashable, Nintendo of America President Reggie Fils-Aime said that “the game is well in development”, echoing what he has said earlier, and even admitting that Nintendo already has a release window set internally, just not one that they are willing to share yet.
“Internally, we have expectations about when [Metroid Prime 4] is going to be released,” Fils-Aimé said. “We haven’t announced it, but yeah, the game is well in development.”
There are two ways to take this—the pessimistic way is that the game is far away from launch, and Nintendo simply won’t share a release date until it is closer to release, which doesn’t even have to be next year at this rate. The more optimistic reading is that Nintendo will in fact soon show us more of the game, and hopefully announce a release window for it that is within the next year as well—maybe at the upcoming TGA ceremony?
