Maybe it did lose its lead,but then again this article isn’t evidence as nothing in it was fact. It days in the article itself that those are just their personal estimates. They never once said anything was official.

You do realize that its not just the raw power, but the amazing things MS has done regarding moving a lot of direct X into the actual silicon. Rather than having to make a thousand or so draw calls via slow software, the same tasks can be accomplished by 10-12 calls directly to the chip. Thats a HUGE advantage in being able to get to 4K without needing to go batshit crazy on the power of the GPU alone.

For this even be in question is embarrassing to Sony. The have international brand loyalty, Japan/Asia locked down, and hype built up from two console generations. Not to mention, their own special brand of hyperbole.

I fell for with it the PS2; Dreamcast was released and waited to buy Sony’s system, which turned out to be disappointing. Not until the Dream cast was defunct did I purchase a system. So you see a 12-month lead means little without the hype capitalize on it.
