This whole thing might have been an iinternal test and someone accidentally flipped the switch and made it external.

It wouldn’t be far fetched to see publishers give you a day to try a game but I wouldn’t imagine it ever becoming a thing that happens consistently. Only publishers have the right to make their games free. Ms can’t decide that for them.

Sony and Microsoft have to pay for every copy downloaded on gold and PS+ when they give games away for free so that’s already a major investment on both their parts.
